National Drive Electric Week, September 26th 2020 at 10:00am

EV owners and visitors are welcome to participate in a physically distant event. Join the display with your EV or come to ask owners about their EV experience first hand. It will be held in the larger section of the parking lot in order to facilitate more room to physical distance. Entry will be from Munsee St. on the north side, where we will ask you to check-in and sanitize. We will recommend that the EV’s on display remain closed and visitors can just look and talk from outside. Traffic flow will be controlled to maintain distancing and size. The size of the group will be limited to regulations, and physical distancing is mandated. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant will be available. Please bring your own mask to use the bathroom, and for recommended use during conversation. No food service will be offered to reduce risk. We ask that you provide your own food and drinks. Many nearby takeout options are available.
Thank you,
EV Society Windsor-Essex chapter.

Green Sun Rising donates Solar Bench to University of Windsor
Windsor, Ontario – September 6, 2012 Green Sun Rising Inc.,Windsor’s longest operating renewable energy company has donated a shady spot for University of Windsor students. Under the roof of the company’s new Solar Bench, students can take cover from the hot sun and work outsides, charging their electric devices at the same time.
Three flexible solar modules on the arched roof of the Solar Bench, with a combined output of over 200W, produce enough power to run and charge regular electronic devices like laptops, cell phones and tablets.
Two comfy benches, made out of 100 % Canadian cedar wood invite students to rest and/or work in front of the Leddy library, where the Solar Bench was recently installed.
Klaus Dohring, president of Green Sun Rising: “We hope that students, faculty and staff will embrace and use the solar bench, enjoying the seating arrangement, weather protection, LED lighting and the charge capabilities for cell phones and laptops. It’s clean, autonomous energy for a greener world.”
The Solar Bench also has a LED light mounted in the top to light it up at night, this way it can be used 24 hours a day.
“Whenever the sun is out, it’s making electricity,” Dohring said. “But even under dim conditions, it’s still generating something.”
Dan Castellan, the university’s Manager, Facility Planning, Renovations & Construction, said he was delighted that Dohring donated the bench and that it demonstrates the university’s commitment to using more sustainable sources of energy. “It was a really nice gesture on the part of Green Sun Rising,” he said.
Dohring said the bench was recently set up temporarily at the Balloonapalooza event downtown and it was very well received, and well used by many people who attended. The university’s bench, he said, is the first permanent installation of a solar bench that his company has done. To our best of knowledge it is the first solar bench at a University in Canada.
“Your students are very smart, so I’m sure they’ll figure it out very quickly,” he said. “We hope it gets good reception and usage.”
The Solar Bench and other off-grid and grid connected solar systems are available for sale. For more information please contact us!

Electric vehicles are on the rise and will play a much bigger part in our daily lifes in years to come. Join us for an exciting event that will not only show you what is currently available in EV technology, but also what the future will bring us. The University of Windsors own Chargelab will present and explain their latest research and development projects – in short the future of Green and Clean transportation!
If you happen to own an electric vehicle, be it an E-Bike or an Electric Car, please fell free to bring it along! Free charging of your EV is courtesy of Green Sun Rising Inc. and the RET Center at this event. In addition, we will exhibit the latest in solar photovoltaic technology: Green Sun Risings new solar carport is an ideal product to protect your car from Wind, Sun, Rain and Hail – and will produce clean energy at the same time. In Ontario under the feed-in-tariff the solar carport will generate an attractive revenue stream.

We also offer the solar carport with a level 1 or level 2 EV charging station attached. So you can charge your electric vehicle with clean and green electricity for free!
Last years electric vehicle gathering event was held in June, on 18th June 2011. Again organized in cooperation with the University of Windsor, we showed electric cars and E-bikes, as well as electric drive train parts. The chargelabs of the University provided interesting demos, and the www.Chargelabs.ca group participated at the event. Test drives were offered as well.
